The Coalition is a grassroots effort of St. Croix County residents to create a coordinated bike and pedestrian trail network in St. Croix County Wisconsin.
The Trail Coalition's mission is to support the development of a multi-use bike/pedestrian trail system and road accommodations network throughout St. Croix County and beyond that connects to the St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail, creates safe commuting and recreational opportunities, encourages healthy life styles, and promotes tourism and commerce in the greater St. Croix County area.
The Inspiration
The long anticipated St. Croix River Crossing Project and its accompanying 4.7 mile Loop Trail situated in both Minnesota and Wisconsin provided the impetus for St. Croix County residents interested in trails to
put some organized effort into trail creation and connections. As with most grassroots efforts, this one started around a proverbial kitchen table.
The History
The stunning St. Croix River Crossing Bridge (seen above), a unique extradosed design, replaced the Historic Stillwater Lift Bridge as the St. Croix River crossing between Wisconsin and Minnesota on August 2, 2017. However, the City of Stillwater's iconic bridge was historically repurposed into a bike and pedestrian trail connection between the two states. The Lift Bridge opened in June, 1, 2020, to complete the Loop Trail.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world.
